Must see – When they see us

People are talking a lot about the movie Joker nowadays. Powerful and beautiful movie, no doubts about that. But When they see us (it got 9/10 on IMDB!!) had a bigger effect on me, as it is based on true horrific events. I watched Joker and When they see us last week between Sunday and Monday, and both nights I couldn’t sleep. So much weight on my heart. Then I watched When they see us now, when the Exonerated Five went to Oprah Winfrey’s show. And I heard about what happened from them, I saw the scars that painful experience left on them. I saw the audience crying, including the actors, while I was crying from the other side of the screen.

This makes me thing of Orange is the new black, another show I found extremely powerful. Are prisoners the ultimate oppressed group? They are not only treated like shit when inside prison, but they are also not given any opportunity to build their life back when outside. And the system inside the prison exacerbates racial and social differences.
