“And when people are hurt, they need people to blame”, sings Kate Tempest. I suppose s refers to white supremacy and xenophobic groups, or Brexit supporters. By the way during a concert in Brussels on 25 October she said that she hopes that what people wouldn’t understand from her English they would feel it…. Refreshing to hear from a British artist something different than the usual mumbling in the micro without thinking that maybe not everybody is a native English speaker….
Anyway, this sentence of hers made me think of something else. I would reframe slightly differently; “And when you people are hurt, they need something or someoneto blame”. This is an idea I thought about many times. The reason why we do this is very simple, it’s easier to be upset against someone or something external rather than addressing our pain. Anger is easier to deal with. The problem is that we end up hurting other people while avoiding feeling our pain.
