Following up on the “2019 version of Bridget Jones’ diary” post, I would like to stop 5 minutes to think about my efforts to reduce waste and CO2. So, here below a non exhausive list.
- I don’t buy water bottles any more, including sparkling water that I love, unless I am in a country where tap water is not safe to drink. I bring my water bottle with me when I travel
- I am trying to buy only second hand clothes. I have being successful since 12 August 2019 by the way. Not including shoes though
- My wedding dress was second hand! Beautiful and original as well I assure you
- I bring a tissue bag when I go grocery shopping
- I buy solid hand soap, and recently received two as present, one at a wedding and one from a friend! Very happy about it
- I regularly clean my email inbox
- Bought a small fridge and have a small oven
- I try to buy beer in glass bottles instead of cans, the same for chickpeas, beans,…
- I buy pasta in paper boxes rather than plastic bags
- I have only one coffee with milk per day, if I drink more than one, it’s black coffee. Don’t like vegetal milk, I swear I tried. I sometimes buy a vegan chocolate-coconut creamy dessert that it’s very tasty.
What I need to improve
- I take many planes a year
- I use platforms like Netflix
- I don’t always buy local and seasonal but not all the time – sorry planet and sorry farmers, special thought to victims of colonial agriculture. At least I stopped buying quinoa (which I had bought maybe one or twice in my life)
- I buy shampoo conditioner cream in plastic recipients. I will change to solid shampoo and condioner too, inspired by this Facebook group
- I own quite a few pair of shoes
- I owned a car until very recently for over a year
- I still buy plastic jewellery
- I eat too much tuna. Sorry tuna I am trying to enjoy you until you still exist.
